Designers to Heat Up the Runway in L.A. For Style Fashion Week

PRESS RELEASE

FROM: Ana Rivera Director of Communications at ana@thebubblefish.com

October 12, 2011– LOS ANGELES – Style Fashion Week will launch its sophomore season October 17th-22nd, 2011 during Market Week in downtown Los Angeles. The six-day production will feature an elite lineup of designers showcasing their spring 2012 collections. Fashion industry leaders, media, and celebrity guests should anticipate seeing an eclectic and dynamic montage of designs from swimwear to vintage-inspired pin-up looks to California-based fashion collectives. Read on to learn more about some of the highlighted designers hitting the SFW runway this fall.

Known for its focus on conservative sexy and curve-conscious styles, combined with a blend of a vintage glamour and modern silhouettes, Nicolita Swimwear is set to heat things up on October 17th for Style Fashion Week’s opening night. Designer, Nicole Di Rocco, will showcase her 2012 collection “Con Sabor Tropical!” and will complete each sultry look with eye-catching designs from Chinese Laundry shoes. Nicolita has become a celebrity favorite; A-listers including Tori Spelling, Beyonce, Kristen Cavallari, Rihanna, and Britney Spears are among customers of the brand. Nicolita has set itself apart in the swimwear industry with a signature fit of “Cuban-style swimwear bottoms” designed for the curvaceous Latina figure. “Cuban-style bottoms are designed with more coverage on the hips, a heart-shaped backside and ‘no-pinch’ fit elastic,” said Di Rocco.

Drawing inspiration from exotic locations, Kareenas will be showcasing their collection on the runway with alluring splashes of color from blooming flowers, provoked from the soft cool breeze of beach winds. These one of a kind garments are adorned with hand embroidery or embellishments of semi-precious stones, sequin, beads, and crystals. Each piece requires meticulous hand-made attention and has a unique style of embellishment to express the spirit of lavish opulence. Perfect to pair up with you favorite bikini.
La La Land is introducing a playfully chick Spring 12 on the runway, October 17th, closing the first day of Style Fashion Week. A whimsical take on step and repeat printing choosing wild life as the focus of the season. And what could suit the urban animal better? The new Spring line consists of comfy tees, maxi skirts, oversized silhouettes and cropped designs, all made in soft knits and chiffon. Conceived and created in Los Angeles, SFW eagerly awaits La La Land's collection as a local favorite."

A leading lifestyle brand, Alternative Apparel brings its spring collection to Fashion Week on October 18th. Its line, “Oasis of Color, will feature rich textures, sun-bleached desert washes, bold prints and a vibrant color palette.” Expect to see “asymmetrical maxi-dresses and high-waisted mini-skirts in colorful prints, as well as a selection of must-have novelty pieces for women, including sheer, mesh tanks, cut-out sweatshirts and beaded Baja Cloth ponchos.” Alternative Apparel also produces a men's line that will offer “breezy Baja Woven's in hoodies, shorts, and button-downs” for spring.

Adding to more local flair, Style Fashion Week welcomes the return of L.A. favorites, Gypsy 05 and Stop Staring. On October 18th, Stop Staring! will reveal a new collection of retro-inspired dresses that have an über-feminine, vintage feel. Gypsy 05, a collection made right here in Hollywood, will hit the runway on Wednesday, October 19th. Established in the spring of 2005 by a dynamic brother/sister duo, Osi and Dotan Shoham, Gypsy 05 reflects the Southern California lifestyle with a focus on effortless, comfortable clothing for women, men and children. Gypsy 05 is an artist brought to life through interpretations of beauty, life, and culture. Gypsy 05 is more than a creative statement; it is an expression that stands to make a difference in the world. The designs incorporate organic fabrics, organic soy softeners, low impact dyes, and seaweed extract printing in every collection. The SS2012 collection is inspired by the mystery and intrigue of the Native American culture, and it is sure to awaken your senses and channel your inner-spirits.

Showcasing a wide range of styles in a fast-paced, high-energy runway show, “California Dreaming: A Fashion Celebration for a Cause,” will present the collections of ten California-based designers on October 20th.
