THE CMC GEARS UP FOR A FALL II/HOLIDAY 12 LA FASHION MARKET

Los Angeles (June 5, 2012) – The California Market Center (CMC) will be presenting thousands of Fall II/Holiday 2012 collections to buyers, Monday-Thursday, June 11 – 14, 2012, for Los Angeles Fashion Market, also open on Sunday, June 10 for Preview. Resources will be featured throughout hundreds of the CMC's showrooms, in addition to the recently expanded GIFT & HOME Showcase, and special exhibit areas, including SELECT Contemporary Tradeshow, TRANSIT LA Shoe Show, and FOCUS Apparel & Accessories Show. To round out the Market experience, buyers and industry guests are invited to attend various special events, including a Fashion Show and Opening Night Reception, as well as a Trend Seminar, Retail Seminar, and a variety of additional perks featured throughout the building each day.

Special events at this Market include two complimentary seminars. Mercedes Gonzalez, Director of Global Purchasing Companies, will present "10 Retail Trends for the Next 10 Years" at 12pm on Monday, June 11 in Seminar Suite A218. On Tuesday, June 12, renowned trend forecasting company WGSN will present "Key Fall/Winter 2012 Trends" at 12pm, in Seminar Suite A218.
Additionally, buyers and industry guests are invited to the CMC's Fall II/Holiday 2012 Fashion Show on Monday evening to view looks from CMC brands Darling, Miilla, Monoreno, Chuadry, and Mystree. The Reception begins at 5pm, featuring complimentary hors d'oeuvres from Trader Vic's LA, Patron Tequila cocktails, popsicles, and photo station, an organic wine bar by Frey Winery, and live beats by DJ Mahli. April 27, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA - On Saturday May 19, 2012 Women of the Green Generation will host their 3rd Annual Conference for women who are inspiring leaders, visionaries, and drivers in creating solutions to our current environmental, economic, and social challenges. The event will now take place in the penthouse suite at Loft Seven, 219 West 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014. Tumblr, a collaborative platform

Designs Of Living Art By Pilar

California-based women’s fashion designer Pilar Macchione will show her latest collection at Couture Fashion Week New York at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday September 17, 2011. The fashion show will be held in the famed Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Pilar Macchione grew up in Buena Park, California and showed an affinity for art and design at age 7 when she began sculpting dresses on dolls. Her professional training began in 1999 when she moved to Florence, Italy to study art and design at Ent-Art Polimoda, accredited through FIT in New York. She returned to California where she interned with designer Zandra Rhodes and later moved to London where she attended the University of Arts. While in London, Ms. Macchione’s designs were featured in the British magazine Jack. Her designs were selected over the work of 150 other students to represent the London College of Fashion in the “Modniy Desant” fashion event in St. Petersburg, Russia. The show brought Ms. Macchione attention from the Russian press as well as London television. Her designs appeared in Closer magazine with British actress Carol Voderman wearing Ms. Macchione’s feather-trimmed evening cape. The cape was also featured in a Tony & Guy advertisement. In 2005 Pilar Macchione was chosen to present her graduate collection at the First China (International) Student Design Competition in Guangzhou. She then went on to work with London designer Giles Deacon for two seasons, during which time she designed eclectic platform sandals that were featured in British Elle. Most recently, Ms. Macchione worked with leading costume houses, including the Old Globe Theatre, San Diego Opera, and Bob Mackie’s studio, where she developed a keen sense for pattern cutting, draping and clothing construction. In 2008 she earned her MA in Theatre/Costume Design from the UCLA School of Theatre. While at UCLA, Ms. Macchione was awarded a scholarship from the University of Arts London to work for the prestigious NSK textile company in New Delhi, India. With a solid background in fashion and costume design, Pilar Macchione approaches each new design as a work of moving sculpture. Her distinctive creations appear on the runway as living art. On July 06 – 09, 2011 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will stage its ninth season. The Spring/Summer 2012 collections will be presented in a tent on “Strasse des 17. Juni”, with its main entrance facing the city’s most famous landmark: Brandenburg Gate.

„We are thrilled to confirm this very prestigious location for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin,“ said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion. „The return to Brandenburg Gate and the opportunity for growth is a great next step for fashion in Berlin. Due to this addition to the structure, the number of designers participating will continue to grow.

Buenos Aires, April 2011- On March 22, 2011 the Buenos Aires city
government debuted Buenos Aires Runway at the Metropolitan
Design Center (CMD) located in the traditional Barracas
neighborhood. Designed to showcase local designers, last month's
inaugural edition put some of the finest Argentinean styles on
display for the Fall-Winter 2011 collections.

This first edition of Buenos Aires Runway served as a project
platform to celebrate Argentinean fashion as a new creative
field, as well as reinforce its integration into the industry
and economy.

The second edition of Buenos Aires Runway will include several
new and exciting additions. The event, to be held in Fall 2011,
will feature business rounds with buyers around the country,
various conference cycles and a showroom similar to the main
fashion event in Latin America.

In all future editions of Buenos Aires Runway, new talent will
continue to be selected, with the goal of offering these upcoming
designers the professional tools and base to establish adequate
connections within the local and international market.

With help from prestigious IMG Fashion, Buenos Aires Runway
seeks to become a part of the international fashion calendar
while also establishing the city of Buenos Aires as a symbol of
design and fashion.

Among the designers who participated in the first edition of
Buenos Aires Runway:


Marcelo Senra, an Argentinean native, known for her ethnic and
tribal designs, was selected last year by the Argentina Ministry
of Foreign Affairs to show her collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion
Week in New York
.

Daniela Sartori, a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires,
she works with organic material and speciailizes in tailoring.
Her clothes are unisex.

Min Agostini studied architecture at the University of Buenos
Aires and uses that background in her designs. She's known for
her short skirts with big volume, dresses and urban coats. In
2009, she was selected by the Argentina Ministry of Foreign
Affairs to show her collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in
New York.

Fabian Zitta, once a doctor, studied design at the University of
Buenos Aires. He is inspired by Art Deco and his collections have
many layers.

Marina Dappian, a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires, she
was insipired by pictures her daughter scribbled on the wall of
the house. She works a lot with wool.

Mariano Toledo is an argenitinian Designer who works on Latin
America Project Runway. His Fall-Winter 2011 Collection included
some leather goods and jackets that are typical of his design. He
appreciates a masculine style that highlights feminity with
personality, mixing skirts, ties, and transparent pants.
