First Glimpse” Bloggers-Only Event @ Emblem Showroom

My adventure into Fashion Week LA start on October 10th, 2013 with an invitation to "First Glimpse Bloggers-Only Event" hosted by Hedi Nazarudin founder of BloggerBabes.com at the Emblem Showroom located in Copper Space in downtown LA. Upon entering the showroom filled with Los Angeles's Top Fashion Bloggers, I knew immediately that this was going to be an phenomenal experience. The presentation featured six new collections from designers Yoze, Love Gia, Rachel Sin, Sacred Heart Collections, Jaleh, Idea Minerva, and Micha Design.
Arriving fashionably late, I instantly became mesmerized with Rachel Sin's Fall/Winter 2013 and Spring/Summer 2014 collections. I loved her exquisite colour blocking and draping techniques and the multi-layered accessories from Micha Design's are still invading my thoughts. After networking with several Bloggers, I also had the pleasure of meeting Ambriel Pouncy of Haus of Chic and Showroom Manager, Eveline Morel of Emblem Showroom. Unfortunately, I didn't met the Hedi but, I want to thank her for inviting me to this amazing presentation.

With several organizers still expected to announce dates and venues for presentations of Spring 2012 collections in Los Angeles–and related fashion events and pop-ups during L.A. Fashion Week–there are several productions we can already pencil onto the October Fashion Week LA calendar:

Oct 11: Fashion blogger community Two Point OH! LA will gather for its seasonal pre-fashion week kick-off party

Oct 13-17: Concept Fashion Week installations and presentations takes place at Ace Gallery with designers to be announced

Oct 14: The peerless Project Ethos fashion/music/art jam returns to the House of Blues

Oct 17-21: Relative newcomer Style Fashion Week to present its second season at Vibiana

Oct 20: Moss Adams LLP presents its Fashion Innovator Award at a runway event featuring emerging designers affiliated with the education non-profit Fashion Business Inc at Vibiana.

Oct 21-23: Closing Market Week is LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios.

Oct 26-27: The definitive pop-up showroom Simply Stylist for editorial and celebrity stylists returns

Oct 28: Designs for the Cure hosted by David Meister in affiliation with Otis College of Art & Design to benefit Susan G Komen for the Cure.

OPEN CALL FOR ALL DESIGNERS!
Fashion Business, Inc. cordially invites you to be part of a special evening filled with Friends, Fashion, Entertainment, Art, Tapas, and Refreshments! However, this evening will not be complete without the help of our Members and Friends.

The main event of the evening will be a fashion show featuring emerging and established designers. This is where YOU come in! We are holding an open call for designers to be featured in our fashion show. There will be 6-7 designer spots open. There will be a small entry fee.

For consideration for this one-time opportunity, each applicant must provide the following:

Line sheets

Look book

Website or other marketing materials

Basic financial and business plan

YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE AT LEAST ONE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED!

In addition, there is NO APPLICATION. Your "application" will be the materials you submit.

In addition to our emerging designer Launch Pad show, Moss Adams will present an established designer with the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award (MAFI).

Created in 2003, the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator (MAFI) award is given to a California based company that has, in the past twelve months, significantly impacted the national marketplace by exemplifying creativity and innovation through unique and compelling designs, manufacturing and/or marketing. The award is bestowed by Moss Adams, LLP, one of the Nations' leading accounting firms, serving over 200 apparel clients, from start-ups to very large middle market private and public companies. The award includes $5,000 of Moss Adams professional services. Applicants for the MAFI Award will be judged by the professional board of directors of the FBI. The winning brand will be featured in their own segment of the event and MUST be present for the presentation for the award.

Venue, models, hair & makeup and production will be sponsored by supporters of this exciting event!

Applications must be submitted for consideration no later than August 19th.

The event will be held during the LA Fashion Week on Thursday, October 20, 2011 (5.30pm-10pm) at the Vibiana (214 South Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012)

This fundraiser will help support the on-going services of the Fashion Business, Incorporated, 501c3 educational non-profit. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Tickets will be available for purchase through the FBI website: Members: $20 | Non-Members: $45
